Portrait by Ted May Todd Hignite is an independent scholar, curator, and the founding editor of the much-lauded publication Comic Art (Buenaventura Press). His new book is "In the Studio: Visits with Contemporary Cartoonists" (Yale University Press) and he also recently co-edited "Strips, Toons, and Bluesies: Essays in Comics and Culture" (Princeton Architectural Press). He is currently organizing a major exhibition devoted to Robert Crumb, opening March 2007 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. He lives in St. Louis with his wife Sara.
